About The Position
Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and families in Grand Rapids, Wyoming, Rockford, Kentwood, and the surrounding metropolitan area of Michigan. The veterinarian will deliver care in pets’ homes, helping families navigate end-of-life decisions and say goodbye with dignity and peace. The role emphasizes unhurried visits, compassionate communication, and meaningful support rather than the pace of a traditional clinic. The veterinarian practices independently while traveling to appointments, with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues available for support. Scheduling options range from two to five days per week, including full-time and self-managed part-time options. Compensation is guaranteed and prorated according to schedule, with quarterly bonus opportunities. Weekend work is arranged by the veterinarian, who chooses four weekend days per month.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), VMD, or BVMS degree.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Responsibilities
- Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in their homes.
- Support families through end-of-life decisions and help them say goodbye with dignity and peace.
- Listen to families, explain care and options, and honor each pet’s story.
- Practice independently while traveling to appointments.
- Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.
