About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Royal Oak, Trenton, Taylor, Clarkston, and the surrounding Michigan metropolitan area. Veterinarians serve pets and families at home, offering unhurried visits, clear guidance, and dignified end-of-life care. The role involves independent mobile practice with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and experienced colleagues available for support. Schedule options range from two to five days per week, including self-managed scheduling. Compensation is prorated according to the selected schedule, with guaranteed compensation ranging from $60,000 to $135,000 and quarterly bonus opportunities. Five-day full-time schedules offer a guaranteed salary of $135,000; four-day full-time schedules offer $110,000. Weekend days are selected by the veterinarian: four weekend days per month are required, with no fixed rotation. The organization does not use non-compete agreements.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver's license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.
Complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before the start date.

Responsibilities

Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in their homes.
Spend time listening to families, explaining care, answering difficult questions, and supporting dignified goodbyes.
Practice independently while traveling to appointments in the service area.
Work the selected schedule, with four weekend days per month chosen by the veterinarian.
