About The Position

Interim HealthCare Hospice is hiring a Hospice Registered Nurse to provide home-based care to patients with six months or less to live, focusing on quality of life, comfort, and meaningful support for patients and their families. The nurse works with an interdisciplinary team to carry out each patient’s plan of care, performs assessments and treatments, ensures needed equipment and supplies are accessible, and educates families about prognosis, care plans, medications, and hospice goals. The role takes a holistic approach that engages the patient’s mind, body, spirit, and family.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Active RN license in Kansas.
• CPR certification.
• Knowledge of state and federal home health regulations.
• Clinical proficiency in nursing specialty.
• Strong communication skills and compassion.

Responsibilities

• Provide home-based care to patients with six months or less to live, focused on quality of life.
• Work with an interdisciplinary team—including a physician, LPN, CNA, HHA, social worker, chaplain, and volunteers—to carry out the patient’s plan of care.
• Perform patient assessments, check vital signs, evaluate breathing, monitor pain, and administer prescribed medication and treatments.
• Ensure medical equipment, prescribed oxygen, medication, and other supplies are accessible.
• Educate families about the patient’s prognosis, changes in the care plan, medication, and hospice goals.
• Take a holistic approach to care that engages the patient’s mind, body, spirit, and family.
