About The Position

The Home Medical Equipment Tech triages rental home respiratory equipment and performs repairs, calibration, and recertification in accordance with manufacturer specifications and Lincare guidelines. The role includes testing, troubleshooting, sterilizing, and maintaining home medical equipment for patient use, as well as documenting all repair and function-testing work. The employee works in a production and test environment and is expected to maintain a safe, organized work area.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn.
• Ability to understand the mechanical operation of home medical devices using testing equipment and/or gauges.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in different communication mediums.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a production environment.
• Must maintain certification necessary to repair specific equipment.
• Must pass and maintain vendor training classes and become certified according to manufacturers’ requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or Home Medical Equipment (HME).

Responsibilities

• Repair and recertify home ventilators, concentrators, and other respiratory equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Execute testing procedures using proprietary test equipment, ensure compliance with codes and manufacturer instructions, troubleshoot equipment, and sterilize it for patient use.
• Perform preventive maintenance and manufacturer-required function testing.
• Triage returned devices and determine their proper disposition.
• Maintain a safe and organized production and test area.
• Document and maintain records of equipment repairs and function tests.
• Determine whether repairs are feasible according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Maintain certifications required to repair specific equipment and pass vendor training classes to become certified under manufacturer requirements.
