About The Position

The Home Medical Equipment Tech triages rental home respiratory equipment and performs repairs, calibration, and recertification in accordance with manufacturer specifications and Lincare guidelines. The role includes testing, troubleshooting, sterilizing, and maintaining respiratory equipment for patient use, along with documenting repair and function-test records. The position works in a production environment and requires mechanical aptitude and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. On-site training is provided as required for specific equipment, and the employee must maintain the certifications necessary to repair that equipment and complete vendor training classes and manufacturer-required certifications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a production environment.
• Maintain certifications necessary to repair specific equipment.
• Pass and maintain vendor training classes and obtain certifications required by manufacturers.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or Home Medical Equipment (HME).

Responsibilities

• Repair and recertify home ventilators, concentrators, and other respiratory equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Perform testing procedures using proprietary test equipment and ensure compliance with applicable codes and manufacturer instructions.
• Troubleshoot and sterilize equipment for patient use.
• Perform preventive maintenance and manufacturer-required function testing.
• Triage returned devices and determine their proper disposition.
• Maintain a safe and organized production and test area.
• Document and maintain records of equipment repairs and function tests.
• Determine whether repairs are feasible under manufacturer guidelines.
• Understand the mechanical operation of home medical devices using testing equipment and/or gauges.
