Haven Home Care is hiring Home Health Aides to provide non-medical assistance to mostly older adults in their homes in Summit County, Ohio. Work includes help with bathing, dressing, meals, light cleaning, errands, and companionship. Aides do not administer medication or perform medical tasks; those duties are handled by nurses. The work is physical, with aides on their feet much of the day and helping clients move around. Shifts take place between 6 AM and 8 PM, with most care scheduled from 8 AM to 5 PM. There are no overnight shifts, and aides must work at least 20 hours per week. Visits can range from 2–3 hours to 4–6 hours or 8 hours. Aides provide their availability and work limits during the phone interview, and Haven matches clients accordingly. Most aides have 2–4 regular clients. Fill-in shifts may be used to assess reliability during the first two weeks, and aides may take additional fill-in shifts for more hours. Pay is $18 per hour for STNAs; $16–$18 per hour for aides with a qualifying HHA certificate or experience, based on the interview; and $16 per hour for those completing the free training pathway. Aides receive $19 per hour for a referred private-pay client if they are an HHA, or $20 per hour if they are an STNA. Holiday work pays an additional 10%. Pay is issued every two weeks by direct deposit. The position is a W-2 job; drive time between clients is paid, but travel to the first client and home from the last client is not. Performance raises are available during the first two years: $0.50 at 90 days, $0.50 at one year, and $1.00 at two years. Missed raises carry over. Additional incentives include an attendance bonus and referral bonuses. Candidates may qualify through an active or expired STNA license, a qualifying HHA certificate, at least one year of qualifying experience at one company under an RN or LPN, or Haven’s free 32-hour training for candidates with no experience. The training takes six days and is unpaid. Candidates whose experience or certificate cannot be verified may still qualify through online training, with pay based on their interview if they already have a care background. Ohio requires HHA candidates to pass written and skills tests at 80% or higher, taken in person at Haven’s Cuyahoga Falls office, unless they qualify to skip the test. STNAs and candidates with documented prior passing HHA test results may skip it. Applicants need a driver’s license, their own insured car with insurance covering work driving, the ability to pass background checks, legal authorization to work in the United States, and to be at least 18 years old. The role requires availability between 6 AM and 8 PM and a commitment to at least 20 hours per week. Haven states that it does not offer PTO, a 401(k), or health insurance. Haven Home Care is an Equal Opportunity Employer and E-Verify participant.
