Home Health Aide - Daytime Shifts, No Overnights

Haven Home Care•Brimfield, OH
•Onsite

About The Position

Haven Home Care is hiring Home Health Aides to provide nonmedical assistance to people, mostly older adults, in their homes in Summit County, Ohio. Duties include bathing, dressing, meal preparation, light cleaning, errands, and companionship. Aides do not administer medication or perform medical tasks, which are handled by nurses. The work is physical, involves being on your feet much of the day, and may include helping clients move around. Shifts are during the day, between 6 AM and 8 PM, with most care scheduled between 8 AM and 5 PM; overnight shifts are not offered. Employees must work at least 20 hours per week. Individual shifts may be 2–3, 4–6, or 8 hours, and aides generally serve multiple clients across different days to reach their weekly hours. Candidates provide their available days and times during the phone interview. Haven matches clients according to the aide’s stated limits, such as travel distance, location, pets, smoking, and schedule. More restrictive preferences may mean a longer wait for client assignments. During the first two weeks, fill-in shifts may be used to assess reliability; regular clients may be assigned sooner when available. Most aides have 2–4 regular clients and may take additional fill-in shifts. Pay depends on qualifications: $18 per hour for an STNA; $16–$18 per hour for an HHA certificate or qualifying experience, based on the interview; and $16 per hour after the free training pathway. Referred private-pay clients pay $19 per hour for HHAs and $20 per hour for STNAs. Holiday work pays an additional 10%. Employees are paid every two weeks by direct deposit. Drive time between clients is paid, but travel to the first client and home from the last client is not. Performance raises are available at 90 days, one year, and two years, subject to attendance criteria. Additional incentives include an attendance bonus and referral bonuses. Candidates qualify through one of four paths: an active or expired STNA license; an HHA certificate of at least 30 hours (RN-signed unless completed online); at least one year of experience at one company under an RN or LPN; or a free 32-hour training course for candidates with no experience. Experience or certificates that cannot be verified or do not qualify may still be addressed through free online training, with pay based on the candidate’s interview if they have a care background. The hiring process includes a 20-minute phone conversation, a short online questionnaire, a test if needed, online paperwork, online orientation and document check, and fingerprinting. Ohio-required HHA testing includes written and skills components, with an 80% passing score on both, and is taken in person at the Cuyahoga Falls office. STNAs and applicants who can show qualifying prior HHA test results may skip the test. This is a W-2 position. The employer states that it does not offer PTO, a 401(k), or health insurance. Haven Home Care participates in E-Verify and is an equal opportunity employer.
