Haven Home Care is hiring Home Health Aides to provide in-home assistance, primarily to older adults, in Summit County, Ohio. Work includes bathing, dressing, meal preparation, light cleaning, errands, and companionship. The role involves physical activity, including being on your feet most of the day and helping clients move around. Home Health Aides do not administer medication or perform medical tasks; those duties are handled by nurses. Shifts are scheduled during the day, within the 6:00 AM–8:00 PM window, with most care taking place between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. There are no overnight shifts, and employees must work at least 20 hours per week. Visits may last 2–3, 4–6, or 8 hours, depending on client needs. Employees share their available days and times during the phone interview, and Haven matches clients to that availability. Drive time between clients is paid, but travel to the first client and home from the last client is not. Pay depends on qualifications: STNAs earn $18 per hour; HHA certificate holders or candidates with qualifying experience earn $16–$18 per hour based on interview; and candidates completing the free training pathway earn $16 per hour. Rates for a private-pay client referred by the employee are $19 per hour for HHAs and $20 per hour for STNAs. Holiday work pays an extra 10%. Pay is issued every two weeks by direct deposit. The position is W-2. Raises are available at 90 days, one year, and two years, subject to the stated attendance criteria. Other earning opportunities include attendance and referral bonuses. Candidates may qualify with an active or expired STNA license; an HHA certificate of at least 30 hours (RN-signed unless completed online); at least one year of experience with one company under an RN or LPN; or no experience, by completing Haven’s free 32-hour training. The training takes six days and is unpaid. Applicants whose experience or certificate cannot be verified may still qualify through the online training pathway, with pay based on their interview if they already have a care background. The hiring process includes a phone interview, online questionnaire, a test if needed, online paperwork, online orientation and document check, and fingerprinting. Ohio requires HHAs to pass written and skills tests with at least 80% on each; the test is held in person at the Cuyahoga Falls office. STNAs and candidates who can provide results showing they already passed an HHA test at 80% or higher may skip the test. Employees state their limits and preferences—such as travel distance, cities, pets, smoking, days, and times—during the phone interview. Haven assigns clients matching those limits. More restrictive availability may mean a longer wait for a client match. During the first two weeks, reliability may be assessed through fill-in shifts; permanent clients may be assigned immediately when there is a match. Most aides have two to four regular clients and may pick up additional fill-in shifts. The employer states that the role does not include PTO, a 401(k), or health insurance. Haven Home Care has operated in Ohio since 1998, is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and participates in E-Verify.
