Home Health Aide - Daytime Shifts, No Overnights

Haven Home Care•Munroe Falls, OH

About The Position

Haven Home Care is hiring Home Health Aides to provide in-home care, primarily for older adults, in Summit County, Ohio. Work takes place during the day, between 6 AM and 8 PM, with most care occurring between 8 AM and 5 PM. There are no overnight shifts. Employees must work at least 20 hours per week. Shifts vary by client need and may range from 2–3 hours to 4–6 hours or 8 hours; reaching the weekly minimum will usually involve serving several clients across different days. Employees provide their availability during a phone interview, and the company matches clients to that availability and stated limits. Duties include helping clients bathe, dress, eat, move around, and complete light cleaning and errands, as well as providing companionship. The work is physical and involves being on one's feet for much of the day and helping clients move. Home Health Aides do not administer medicine or perform medical tasks; those duties are handled by nurses. Pay is $18 per hour for an active or expired STNA license; $16–$18 per hour for an HHA certificate or qualifying experience, based on the interview; and $16 per hour after the free training pathway. For a private-pay client referred by the employee, the rate is $19 per hour for an HHA or $20 per hour for an STNA. Holidays pay an additional 10%. Employees are paid biweekly by direct deposit as W-2 employees. Drive time between clients is paid, but travel to the first client and home from the last client is not. The company describes performance raises of $0.50 at 90 days, $0.50 at one year, and $1.00 at two years, with missed raises carrying over. Additional earning opportunities include attendance and referral bonuses. Applicants may qualify with an active or expired STNA license, an HHA certificate of at least 30 hours (RN-signed unless completed online), at least one year of experience at one company under an RN or LPN, or the company's free 32-hour training for applicants with no experience. Applicants whose experience or certificate cannot be verified may qualify through the free online training; those with a care background retain interview-based pay of $16–$18 per hour. The hiring process includes a phone conversation, an online questionnaire, a test if required, online paperwork, online orientation and document review, and fingerprinting. Ohio requires HHA applicants to pass written and skills tests at 80% or higher, taken in person at the Cuyahoga Falls office. STNAs and applicants who can show qualifying prior HHA test results are exempt. Employees state their client preferences and limits, including pets, smoking, travel distance, days, and times. Assignments are matched to those limits, but narrower availability may mean a longer wait for a client match. During the first two weeks, reliability may be assessed through fill-in shifts; permanent clients are assigned sooner when there is an immediate match. Most aides have two to four regular clients and may accept additional fill-in shifts. The company expects employees to attend the shifts they commit to and says it can discuss schedule changes when circumstances change. The role requires a driver's license, a personally owned car with insurance covering work driving, successful background checks, at least 20 hours of work availability per week, availability between 6 AM and 8 PM, legal authorization to work in the United States, and a minimum age of 18. The posting explicitly states there is no PTO, 401(k), or health insurance. Haven Home Care is an Equal Opportunity Employer, participates in E-Verify, and has operated in Ohio since 1998.
