Haven Home Care is hiring Home Health Aides to provide nonmedical support to clients, mostly older adults, in their homes in Summit County, Ohio. Duties include bathing, dressing, meal preparation, light cleaning, errands, companionship, and helping clients move around. Employees do not administer medicine or perform medical tasks; those duties are handled by nurses. The work is physical and involves being on your feet for much of the day and assisting clients with mobility. Work is scheduled during daytime hours, between 6 AM and 8 PM, with most care occurring between 8 AM and 5 PM. Overnight shifts are not offered, and employees must work at least 20 hours per week. Individual visits may last 2–3, 4–6, or 8 hours, and employees generally serve multiple clients across different days to reach their weekly hours. Applicants provide their available days and times during a phone interview, and clients are matched to that availability and to stated limits such as travel distance, cities, pets, and smoking. The number of available client matches may be smaller when an employee has more scheduling or location preferences. During the first two weeks, reliability may be assessed through fill-in shifts; regular clients are assigned sooner when there is an immediate match. Most aides have 2–4 regular clients and may accept extra fill-in shifts. The role requires a driver’s license and use of a personally owned car with insurance that covers work driving. Drive time between clients is paid, but travel to the first client and from the last client is not. Employees are expected to attend the shifts they commit to; the company may work with employees whose availability changes, but not with no-shows or last-minute call-offs. Pay is $18 per hour for an active or expired STNA license; $16–$18 per hour for an HHA certificate or qualifying experience, based on the interview; and $16 per hour after the free training pathway. For a private-pay client referred by the employee, the rate is $19 per hour for an HHA and $20 per hour for an STNA. Holiday work pays an additional 10%. Employees are paid every two weeks by direct deposit as W-2 employees. The role offers three potential performance raises within the first two years: $0.50 at 90 days, $0.50 at one year, and $1.00 at two years; missed raises carry over. Additional earning opportunities include $100 after 30 days with perfect attendance, referral bonuses for Home Health Aides who remain with the company, and a referral payment for private-pay clients based on their hours. Applicants can qualify through an active or expired STNA license, an HHA certificate meeting the stated criteria, at least one year of experience at one company under an RN or LPN, or a free 32-hour training pathway for applicants with no experience. The hiring process includes a phone conversation, online questionnaire, a test if needed, online paperwork, online orientation and document review, and fingerprinting. Ohio-required HHA testing consists of written and skills components, each requiring a score of at least 80%, and is held in person at the company’s Cuyahoga Falls office. STNAs and applicants who can provide proof of a qualifying prior HHA test may skip the test. Applicants whose experience or certificate cannot be verified may qualify through the free online training; those with a care background retain interview-based pay rather than the entry rate for applicants with no experience. The company states that it does not offer PTO, a 401(k), or health insurance. Applicants must pass background checks, have the legal right to work in the United States, and be at least 18 years old. Haven Home Care is an Equal Opportunity Employer, participates in E-Verify, and has operated in Ohio since 1998.
