Home Health Aide - Daytime Shifts, No Overnights

Haven Home Care•Ravenna, OH
•$16 - $18•Onsite

About The Position

Haven Home Care is hiring Home Health Aides to provide in-home support, primarily to older adults, in Summit County, Ohio. Work is scheduled during daytime hours between 6 AM and 8 PM, with most care taking place between 8 AM and 5 PM. There are no overnight shifts, and employees must work at least 20 hours per week. Visits may last 2–3 hours, 4–6 hours, or 8 hours, and employees generally serve several clients across different days. Employees provide their availability during a phone interview, and Haven matches clients to those days and times. Duties include helping clients bathe, get dressed, eat meals, perform light cleaning, run errands, and enjoy companionship. The work is physical, involves being on your feet most of the day, and may require helping clients move around. Home Health Aides do not administer medication or perform medical tasks; those duties are handled by nurses. Pay varies by qualifications: $18 per hour for an active or expired STNA license; $16–$18 per hour for an HHA certificate or qualifying experience, based on the interview; and $16 per hour after the free training pathway. Employees referring a private-pay client may earn $19 per hour as an HHA or $20 per hour as an STNA. Holiday work pays an additional 10%. Employees are paid every two weeks by direct deposit. Drive time between clients is paid, but travel to the first client and home from the last client is not. Performance raises are available at 90 days, one year, and two years, subject to criteria; missing a raise opportunity carries it over. Additional incentives include attendance and referral bonuses. Applicants can qualify through an active or expired STNA license, a qualifying HHA certificate, at least one year of experience with one company under an RN or LPN, or Haven's free 32-hour training for applicants with no experience. The process includes a phone conversation, online questionnaire, a test if required, online paperwork, online orientation and document check, and fingerprinting. Ohio-required HHA tests include written and skills components, with 80% required on both, and are held in person at the Cuyahoga Falls office. STNAs and applicants who can document a prior qualifying HHA test may skip the test. Client assignments are matched to the employee's stated limits and preferences, including pets, smoking, travel distance, days, and times. More restrictive availability can mean a longer wait for a match. During the first two weeks, employees may be offered fill-in shifts while reliability is assessed; permanent clients may be assigned sooner when available. Most aides have two to four regular clients and may choose to take additional fill-in shifts. Employees are expected to attend the shifts they commit to, though they may discuss changing availability if circumstances change. Applicants must have a driver's license and their own car with insurance covering work driving, pass background checks, be legally authorized to work in the United States, be at least 18 years old, be available between 6 AM and 8 PM, and work at least 20 hours per week. The position is a W-2 role. The employer states that it does not offer PTO, 401(k), or health insurance.
