Haven Home Care is hiring Home Health Aides to provide nonmedical assistance to mostly older adults in their homes in Summit County, Ohio. Duties include bathing, dressing, preparing meals, light cleaning, running errands, and providing companionship. The work is physical, with aides on their feet much of the day and helping clients move around. Aides do not administer medication or perform medical tasks, which are handled by nurses. Work is scheduled during the day, between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.; most care takes place between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. There are no overnight shifts. Aides must work at least 20 hours per week. Visits may last 2–3 hours, 4–6 hours, or 8 hours, and reaching the weekly minimum will usually involve serving several clients on different days. Applicants share their available days and times during a phone interview, and the company matches clients to that availability. Aides can set limits related to pets, smoking, travel distance, days, and times; narrower limits may mean waiting longer for a matching client. Most aides have 2–4 regular clients, and additional fill-in shifts may be available. Pay is $18 per hour for STNAs; $16–$18 per hour for applicants with a qualifying HHA certificate or experience, based on the interview; and $16 per hour for those qualifying through the free training pathway. For a private-pay client referred by the aide, the rate is $19 per hour for an HHA or $20 per hour for an STNA. Holiday work pays an additional 10%. Pay is issued every two weeks by direct deposit. Drive time between clients is paid, but travel to the first client and home from the last client is not. The job is a W-2 position. The posting states that there is no PTO, 401(k), or health insurance. Qualification routes include an active or expired STNA license; an HHA certificate of at least 30 hours, signed by an RN unless completed online; at least one year of experience with one company under an RN or LPN; or a free, unpaid 32-hour training program for applicants without experience. The posting outlines a hiring process of a phone discussion, online questionnaire, test if needed, online paperwork, online orientation and document check, and fingerprinting. Ohio-required HHA testing includes written and skills components, with an 80% passing score, and is held in person at the Cuyahoga Falls office. STNAs and applicants who provide proof of a qualifying prior HHA test can skip the test. If past experience or a certificate cannot be verified or does not qualify, applicants may still qualify through the online training pathway; the posting says applicants with a care background retain interview-based pay of $16–$18 per hour. The company says it assesses reliability during the first two weeks using fill-in shifts, unless permanent clients are available immediately. Attendance is emphasized, and aides are expected to work the days they commit to. Applicants must have a driver's license, their own car with insurance that covers work driving, pass background checks, be legally authorized to work in the United States, be at least 18, and be available during the 6 a.m.–8 p.m. operating window.
