About The Position

Haven Home Care is hiring Home Health Aides to provide in-home support, primarily to older adults, in Summit County, Ohio. Work is scheduled during daytime hours between 6 AM and 8 PM, with most care taking place between 8 AM and 5 PM. There are no overnight shifts, and employees must work at least 20 hours per week. Shifts vary in length, from approximately 2–3 hours to 4–6 hours or 8 hours, and typically involve serving several clients across different days. Applicants share their available days and times during a phone interview, and the company matches clients accordingly. Care includes bathing, dressing, meal assistance, light cleaning, errands, and companionship. The work is physical; aides are on their feet much of the day and help clients move around. Aides do not administer medication or perform medical tasks, which are handled by nurses. Pay depends on qualifications: $18 per hour for an active or expired STNA license; $16–$18 per hour for an HHA certificate or qualifying experience, based on the interview; and $16 per hour after the free training pathway. Aides serving a private-pay client they referred earn $19 per hour with an HHA qualification or $20 per hour with an STNA. Holiday work pays 10% extra. Pay is issued every two weeks by direct deposit. This is a W-2 position, and drive time between clients is paid, but travel to the first client and home from the last client is not. Performance raises are available at 90 days, one year, and two years, subject to criteria; missed raises carry over. Additional incentives include an attendance bonus and referral bonuses. Applicants can qualify through an active or expired STNA license, an HHA certificate meeting the stated criteria, at least one year of care experience at one company under an RN or LPN, or a free 32-hour training pathway for applicants with no experience. Applicants whose experience or certificate cannot be verified may qualify through free online training; those with an existing care background retain interview-based pay. The hiring process includes a phone conversation, online questionnaire, test if needed, online paperwork, online orientation and document check, and fingerprinting. Ohio-required HHA written and skills tests must each be passed with at least 80%; qualifying STNAs and applicants who show proof of a prior passing HHA test can skip the test. During the phone interview, applicants identify limits and preferences such as pets, smoking, travel distance, and available days and times. Client assignments are matched to those limits. More restrictive preferences can reduce the number of available matches and extend the wait for a client. During the first two weeks, the company gauges reliability with fill-in shifts, though permanent clients may be assigned sooner when a match is available. Most aides have two to four regular clients and may take additional fill-in shifts. Applicants need a driver's license, their own car with insurance covering work driving, the legal right to work in the U.S., and must be at least 18. They must pass background checks, be available between 6 AM and 8 PM, and work at least 20 hours per week. The company states that it does not offer PTO, a 401(k), or health insurance. Haven Home Care is an Equal Opportunity Employer, participates in E-Verify, and has operated in Ohio since 1998.
