About The Position

WM is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator I to work at its material recycling facility in Topeka, Kansas. The role operates heavy equipment, including bulldozers, scrapers, and front-end loaders, to support recycling facility operations. Operators work in accordance with company safety policies and procedures and follow applicable operating and maintenance guidelines. The position includes routine equipment inspections and preventive maintenance, accurate recordkeeping, and moving and positioning raw materials and finished components with material-moving equipment. The role may also include other duties as assigned. The normal work setting is a shop or field, with the facility identified as a material recycling facility.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment.
Be over 18 years of age.
Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Be able to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment in compliance with company operating safety policies and procedures.
Conduct routine equipment inspections and preventive maintenance, and maintain accurate records.
Move and position raw materials and finished components using material-moving equipment.
Follow standard operating procedures and guidelines for operating and maintaining vehicles.
Perform other duties as assigned.
