Heavy Diesel Technician/Mechanic - Swing shift
About The Position
Alaska Marine Trucking, part of the Lynden family of companies, is hiring a full-time Mechanic in Anchorage, Alaska. This swing-shift position runs from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. and includes a $3.00-per-hour shift differential. The Mechanic maintains heavy-duty equipment, including tractors, trailers, and forklifts, and assists with major component replacements such as hydraulic pumps, engines, and transmissions. The employee must be able to apply for and be issued a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), and perform inspections in compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations. Employment offers are contingent on a satisfactory background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Requirements
- Must be able to apply for and be issued a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card).
- Ability to show up to work on time and ready to work.
- Detail-oriented, with good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift objects weighing as much as 100 pounds.
- Ability to travel for short periods of time and work in outside weather conditions.
- Must satisfactorily complete a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Responsibilities
- Maintain heavy-duty equipment, including tractors, trailers, and forklifts.
- Assist with major component swaps, including hydraulic pumps, engines, and transmissions.
- Perform inspections in compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Carry out duties with a strong commitment to excellent customer service.
