About The Position

Bank of Botetourt is seeking a Head Teller for its Daleville Office. The position performs teller transactions, provides customer service, promotes bank products and services, oversees teller activities, and maintains records of vault and teller-station cash balances. The Head Teller sells and delivers retail banking products and services, including opening accounts and accepting consumer loan applications, and works with consumer and business customers to build banking relationships and contribute to branch goals. The role also handles deposits, loan payments, account transfers and closures, payments and withdrawals, currency and coin, cash-drawer balancing, ATM balancing, and related records. The Head Teller is expected to know the bank’s products and services, identify sales opportunities, maintain a secure and orderly teller area, follow robbery procedures, and provide professional service to customers and colleagues. The position may also represent the bank at community affairs and events and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

A minimum of 3–5 years of retail banking experience is preferred.
Provide superior customer service and represent the bank professionally.
Know the bank’s products and services and contribute to sales goals.
Understand the role and procedures to follow in the event of a robbery.
Promptly report known or suspected BSA-law, rule, regulation, or compliance-program violations to the BSA Officer or Coordinator.

Retail banking experience of 3–5 years is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and receive deposits, ensuring negotiable instruments are properly endorsed.
Receive loan payments and verify that payments equal amounts due, including applicable late charges.
Issue certified checks, VISA travel and gift cards, and cashier’s checks; direct customers on purchasing U.S. Savings Bonds.
Process bank-by-mail and night-depository items and record required information on bank forms.
Close accounts or transfer funds as requested.
Collect utility payments and disburse funds to the appropriate company.
Complete IRS Currency Transaction Report 4789 for cash transactions over $10,000.
Count, prove, and package currency and coin; balance cash drawers and prepare teller sheets.
Cash checks, process savings-account withdrawals, and redeem savings bonds and coupons.
Provide helpful, friendly, and excellent customer service.
Know the bank’s products and services and identify opportunities to sell them.
Sell or refer bank products and services to customers and prospects; participate with the manager in allocating retail sales goals and achieving individual sales goals.
Maintain appropriate currency and coin amounts in the teller till.
Understand the role and procedures to follow in the event of a robbery.
Maintain a neat and orderly work area and secure negotiable items and confidential records.
Use the computer system to inquire about account status.
Operate standard office machines and teller equipment, including coin sorters and wrappers, currency counters, teller machines, copiers, typewriters, fax machines, and adding machines.
Keep the teller station stocked with forms and supplies.
Balance ATMs.
Assist with receiving and processing deposits for the Bank of Botetourt Elementary Savings Program.
Represent the bank professionally in community affairs and events.
Treat staff members with respect and cooperation, and conduct business to maximize shareholder value.
Promptly report known or suspected BSA violations to the BSA Officer or Coordinator.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
