Growth Marketing Lead

ClassDojo•San Francisco, CA
•$210,000 - $250,000•Remote

About The Position

ClassDojo is hiring a Growth Marketing Lead to own external acquisition for its consumer products, Dojo Sparks and Dojo Islands. The role focuses on reaching families outside ClassDojo’s existing network and driving net-new paid users through acquisition experiments across paid and unpaid channels, initially emphasizing social and influencer partnerships. This is a high-impact, high-autonomy, individual-contributor-first position. The Growth Marketing Lead will initially operate as a one-person growth marketing team, setting strategy, running experiments end to end, analyzing results, and scaling successful approaches. The role partners closely with Product, Creative, Product Marketing, Data, and Marketing leaders, and works alongside a growth leader focused on growth within ClassDojo’s existing network. Over time, the person will help develop growth systems, processes, and partnerships, with potential to take on people leadership as impact is demonstrated. ClassDojo is a distributed company and considers candidates regardless of location, provided they can maintain significant working-hour overlap with an Americas time zone. U.S. salary ranges are $210,000–$250,000 for CA, WA, NY, NJ, and CT, and $178,500–$212,500 for all other U.S. states. Compensation depends on factors including geographic location, experience, and skillset.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in growth, performance, or consumer marketing, ideally at high-growth consumer or marketplace companies.
  • A proven track record of owning acquisition outcomes end to end, rather than managing only one channel.
  • Strong analytical judgment and comfort using data to evaluate ROI, conversion, and growth tradeoffs.
  • Experience as a generalist in small or mid-sized teams, such as teams of 30–150 people, with broad ownership.
  • Depth in at least one acquisition channel, such as paid social, influencer, partnerships, SEO, or SEM, and strong understanding of other channels.
  • Hands-on, execution-oriented approach, balancing strategy with attention to implementation details.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in ambiguous conditions, self-directing and prioritizing without heavy process.
  • Clear, concise communication and ability to partner effectively across Product, Creative, and Data.
  • Willingness to have significant working-hour overlap with one of the Americas time zones.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or scaling influencer- or creator-led growth programs.
  • Experience with consumer subscription or paid consumer products.
  • Experience as a builder or first marketing hire in an early-stage or fast-scaling environment.
  • Interest in using AI and new tools to accelerate work and experimentation.
  • Commitment to product quality and long-term, sustainable growth, not only short-term wins.

Responsibilities

  • Set and own new-user acquisition strategy across paid and unpaid channels, initially focusing on social and influencer partnerships.
  • Run growth experiments end to end, including defining hypotheses, launching tests, analyzing results, and deciding whether to scale or stop them.
  • Identify and validate acquisition channels through scrappy, manual approaches, then scale successful efforts through agencies, tooling, and automation.
  • Establish success metrics and ROI thresholds to guide investment and prioritization.
  • Partner with Product, Creative, and Product Marketing to test value propositions, landing experiences, and onboarding flows to improve conversion.
  • Build an experimentation and measurement framework for rapid iteration across messaging, targeting, and funnel steps.
  • Use external resources and modern tools, including AI, to maximize impact without overbuilding internal teams.
  • Help shape ClassDojo’s long-term growth marketing capabilities, with potential to assume people leadership as impact is proven.
