About The Position

The Groundman is an entry point into construction and maintenance of the power grid. The position assists a team with building, repairing, and maintaining underground electrical distribution systems and reports to the Foreman.

The role includes performing physical work outdoors at construction sites in varied and sometimes extreme weather conditions. Employees may be assigned to extended job locations, including out-of-state assignments, and must be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and an on-call rotation. The position requires following safety protocols and using and inspecting personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
• Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
• Ability to stand, walk, handle objects, operate tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintenance, and repairs on underground distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
• Assist with installing and repairing underground facilities, conductors, and related hardware.
• Maintain excavation equipment, including backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.
• Follow safety protocols, including PPE use and understanding insulated protective cover used to isolate differences of potential.
• Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment.
• Perform rigorous physical labor.
• Communicate by talking, listening, and using hand signals.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and storm conditions.
• Be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and an on-call rotation.
