About The Position

The Groundman is an entry point to a career in construction and maintenance of the nation’s power grid. The role assists a team in building, repairing, and maintaining underground electrical distribution systems and reports to the Foreman. The position performs rigorous physical labor outdoors at construction sites and may involve travel, out-of-state assignments, emergency callouts, and work during outages or storms. Employees work in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions and follow safety protocols, including the use and inspection of personal protective equipment (PPE) and insulated protective covers.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
Willingness to travel long distances on short notice and work at job locations for extended periods, including out-of-state assignments.
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
Ability to perform rigorous physical labor and work outdoors in varying and extreme weather conditions.

Responsibilities

Assist with construction, maintenance, and repair of underground electrical distribution systems.
Help install and repair underground facilities, conductors, and related hardware.
Maintain excavation equipment, including backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.
Follow safety protocols, use PPE, and understand when PPE is required.
Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment.
Work outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotations as needed.
