About The Position

The Groundman assists a team in building, repairing, and maintaining underground electrical distribution systems. This position performs new construction and maintenance and repair work while prioritizing safety. The Groundman helps install and repair underground facilities, conductors, and related hardware; maintains excavation and pulling equipment; and follows safety protocols, including inspecting rubber goods and PPE and understanding when and how to use protective equipment. The role involves rigorous physical labor and working outdoors in a range of weather conditions. The Groundman reports to the Foreman.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
Willingness to travel long distances on short notice and work extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
Ability to perform rigorous physical labor.
Ability to talk, listen, and use hand signals to communicate; frequently stand, walk, handle objects, operate tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.

Responsibilities

Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of underground distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
Assist with installing and repairing underground facilities, conductors, and related hardware.
Maintain backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.
Follow safety protocols, use PPE appropriately, and inspect rubber goods and PPE.
Work outdoors in varying and extreme weather conditions.
Be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation.
