About The Position

The Groundman assists a team with building, repairing, and maintaining underground electrical distribution systems. The role reports to the Foreman and involves construction, maintenance, and repair work performed with safety as a priority. Work takes place outdoors at construction job sites and may involve extended assignments, including out-of-state work, as well as outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license.
• Able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Able to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Able to work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
• Able to talk, listen, use hand signals, stand, walk, handle objects, operate tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of underground distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
• Help install and repair underground facilities, conductors, and related hardware.
• Maintain excavation equipment, including backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.
• Follow safety protocols, use PPE, understand insulated protective covers, and inspect rubber goods and PPE.
• Work outdoors in varying and extreme weather conditions.
• Perform rigorous physical labor.
• Work outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation.
