About The Position

The Groundman assists a team in building, repairing, and maintaining underground electrical distribution systems as an entry step into construction and maintenance of the power grid. The position reports to the Foreman. Work includes installing and repairing underground facilities, conductors, and related hardware; maintaining excavation and pulling equipment; and performing rigorous physical labor. The work takes place outdoors at construction job sites in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions. The role may require travel, extended assignments away from home, and availability for outages, storms, emergencies, and an on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
• Willingness to travel long distances on short notice and work extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
• Ability to perform rigorous physical labor and meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of underground distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
• Assist with installation and repair of underground facilities, conductors, and related hardware.
• Maintain backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.
• Follow safety protocols, use PPE appropriately, and understand insulated protective cover used to isolate differences of potential.
• Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Communicate by talking, listening, and using hand signals.
