About The Position

The Ground Operations Crew handles customer baggage and performs ramp and aircraft servicing duties, including operating ground service equipment and motor vehicles, coordinating service for arriving and departing aircraft, and preparing the cabin for departure. The role also involves assisting customers, including customers who need boarding assistance, responding to ad-hoc requests, and maintaining safe operations. Crewmembers work outdoors in varied weather and elevated-noise conditions and must be comfortable serving customers and using computers.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One year of customer service or sales experience.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Complete fluency in written and spoken English.
Complete an assessment evaluating adaptability, safety orientation, and teamwork; scoring may be AI- or statistically based.
Adhere to JetBlue Uniform Policy Manual standards.
Able to travel and work variable hours and flexible shifts, including holidays and weekends, and respond on short notice.
Able to follow safety guidelines and perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints.
Able to work in all types of weather conditions.
Able to make occasional trips to other locations for training or temporary assignment.
Able to give and receive verbal communication and use handheld radios and headsets to communicate with the cockpit, dispatch, and other crewmembers.
Able to handle objects up to 50 pounds frequently and 70–100 pounds occasionally with assistance from other people or tools, and bend, crouch, and kneel as needed.
Acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge.
Depending on location, acquire and maintain United States Customs Clearance.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record meeting JetBlue Airways insurance standards.
Available for occasional overnight travel (10%).
Pass a 10-year background check and pre-employment drug test.
Be legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located; US work authorization is required, and visa sponsorship is not available.
Internal candidates must be in good standing in attendance, performance, and safety.
Maintain an appropriate organizational fit with JetBlue culture and its values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun.
Use of ChatGPT or other automated tools during the interview process disqualifies candidates.

Responsibilities

Operate ground service equipment, including motor vehicles, tugs, and elevated de-icing equipment.
Service aircraft using equipment such as potable water trucks, ground power units, tugs, aircraft pushback equipment, lavatory trucks, and deicing trucks.
Work in a ramp environment.
Tag, lift, load, and unload customer bags from aircraft baggage compartments and baggage systems.
Operate external aircraft equipment.
Help prepare the cabin for boarding and departure, including cleaning seats, seat pockets, floors, galleys, and lavatories.
Assist customers with special needs, including boarding assistance.
Guide aircraft to and from parking locations.
Use handheld radios occasionally and communicate with proper radio etiquette.
Occasionally assist with loading and unloading mail, small packages, and human remains.
Ensure and maintain a safe environment and operation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Promote safety, identify and report safety or security concerns, and adhere to applicable laws, regulations, company policies, procedures, and risk controls.
Maintain regular attendance, punctuality, professional appearance, and a positive attitude.
