Gift Shop Attendant
About The Position
Provide friendly, efficient service to guests and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the gift shop. Assist guests with merchandise purchases, keep displays and shelves in order, and check in, store, and restock merchandise as needed. Complete necessary paperwork and account for cash, charges, and sales during the shift. The attendant is responsible for keys, cash, and charges while on shift and works alone without supervision. Work takes place in the gift shop and inventory storage areas. Shifts vary, and open availability is sought; the schedule includes weekends and holidays and may include day or night shifts. Because of seasonal requirements, work in other resort areas may be offered as a replacement for this position.
Requirements
- No prior experience is required.
- Basic arithmetic skills, including the ability to make change accurately.
- Ability to speak and write English.
- Ability to read, write, keep basic records, and do simple arithmetic.
- Must be neat, clean, friendly, and dependable.
- Must enjoy dealing with the public and providing good service.
- Must be able to work alone without supervision.
- Must be able to stand throughout the shift during busy periods.
- Some reaching and bending are required.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests.
- Assist guests with merchandise purchases.
- Keep the gift shop clean, neat, and orderly.
- Straighten merchandise and displays and dust shelves daily.
- Move merchandise as necessary and wash glass shelves, windows, and countertops as needed.
- Vacuum as needed.
- Check in merchandise and put it away when required.
- Restock merchandise as needed.
- Complete necessary paperwork and account for money, charges, and sales during the shift.
- Be responsible for the keys, cash, and charges during the shift.
