About The Position
Provides excellent customer service while conducting gift shop activities, including processing sales, opening and closing the shop, completing bank deposits, and maintaining the shop’s appearance. The role also supports volunteers, handles phone orders and merchandise needs, and keeps work areas and equipment in good condition. This is a part-time position scheduled for Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Requirements
- Strong customer service skills.

- Strong problem-solving skills.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
- Retail experience preferred.
- Experience working with volunteers preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide a positive gift shop experience through excellent customer service and efficient processing of sales using appropriate equipment.
- Assist volunteers during their gift shop shifts.
- Develop working knowledge of current merchandise and inventory.
- Follow opening and closing procedures, including placing start-up money from the safe into the cash register, picking up newspapers, and checking merchandise and shop appearance.
- Process the daily bank deposit according to gift shop policy.
- Take phone orders, process credit payments, and arrange item delivery by a volunteer or the employee.
- Order merchandise, including sundries and candy as needed.
- Assist gift shop chairmen and buyers.
- Keep the shop, work area, and back room clean and orderly.
- Maintain working knowledge of equipment and perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment used in the role.
