About The Position

The gift shop lead supports the gift shop manager in the shop’s daily operation and helps coordinate and organize gift shop duties. The Plaza Shop is located in the main lobby of Barnes-Jewish Hospital South and serves patients and visitors, offering items such as parking passes, snacks, cards, candy, stamps, specialty gifts, personal items, books, and magazines.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with weekend rotation coverage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The stated weekend rotation is one weekend per month when fully staffed; currently, the role works every third weekend. Duties include closing the store and counting drawers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of retail or cashier experience; the listed experience range is 2–5 years.

Responsibilities

• Perform cash functions, including ringing sales, maintaining paperwork, ensuring product knowledge, and providing receipts.
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers, resolving problems, and meeting customer needs in a timely manner that reflects positively on the shop.
• Oversee shop operations and delegate duties as necessary.
• Maintain the shop’s appearance by stocking, straightening, organizing, and cleaning appropriate areas.
• Close the store and count drawers.
