Requirements
- Native or fluent German language proficiency (both spoken and written) is essential for this role — candidates must demonstrate a high command of German to accurately assess social media content in a cultural and linguistic context.
- Valid EU passport is mandatory.
- A good working knowledge of English is required for internal communication, reporting, and collaboration with international teams.
- Prior experience in content moderation, trust and safety, customer support, or a related social media environment is considered a strong advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to make sound, consistent judgement calls under pressure.
- Demonstrated resilience and emotional maturity when handling sensitive, disturbing, or distressing content, with a commitment to personal wellbeing practices.
- Strong digital literacy and a genuine familiarity with social media platforms, online communities, and current internet culture trends.
Responsibilities
- Review, assess, and moderate German-language user-generated content across major social media platforms in accordance with platform-specific community guidelines and policies.
- Identify, flag, and take appropriate action on harmful, abusive, misleading, or policy-violating content including hate speech, graphic material, misinformation, and spam within social media environments.
- Maintain a consistently high level of accuracy and quality when making content moderation decisions, ensuring fair and consistent application of platform rules.
- Escalate complex, sensitive, or borderline content cases to senior moderators or trust and safety teams following established escalation protocols.
- Monitor social media trends, emerging threats, and evolving content patterns in the German-speaking online space to proactively support platform safety initiatives.
- Document moderation actions, maintain accurate records of reviewed content, and contribute to regular quality assurance reporting processes.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including trust and safety, legal, and product teams to refine moderation guidelines and improve platform integrity.
- Provide culturally informed insights into German-language content nuances, slang, and regional sensitivities to support the ongoing improvement of moderation frameworks.
