About The Position

Barr is seeking a mid-level geologist focused on remediation to join its Minneapolis office. The role involves working independently and on project teams to support environmental site assessments, site investigations, remediation planning, and related project delivery. Assignments may include ASTM Phase I environmental site assessments for property transactions; planning and coordinating Phase II investigations of contaminated soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, and vapor intrusion; interpreting data and developing site conceptual models; and developing site management strategies and response action plans. Work may also include remediation technology evaluations and feasibility studies, cost estimating, contracting, technical report preparation, and responding to quotes and proposals. Additional work may include field investigations, aquifer test performance and analysis, and construction observation. Field tasks can involve observing drilling and monitoring well installation, classifying soil and bedrock samples, and collecting samples for field screening and laboratory analysis. The position is based in Minneapolis, with a hybrid arrangement potentially available. Travel of up to 15% and fieldwork of up to 30% are expected, with project needs varying seasonally and over time. The role requires a collaborative and adaptable professional with strong communication, organization, analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. More experienced candidates may provide leadership and mentoring and help build client relationships. The work may take place on rough construction terrain, industrial facilities, waste disposal sites, and sites requiring hazardous-material cleanup. Safety training will be provided, and an OSHA-mandated physical exam or client-requested drug screening may be required. Candidates must be able to perform the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
