Barr is seeking a geologist to join its Minneapolis office in a mid-level role focused on remediation. The position involves working independently or on project teams to perform or coordinate environmental site assessments and investigations, interpret data, develop site conceptual models, and support remediation and site management planning. Work may include contaminated soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, vapor intrusion, and soil gas; remediation technology evaluations and feasibility studies; cost estimates and contracting; technical reports; and responses to quotes and proposals. Additional assignments may include aquifer testing and analysis and construction observation. Fieldwork can involve observing drilling and monitoring well installation, classifying soil and bedrock samples, and collecting samples for field screening and laboratory analysis. The role is based in Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office. A hybrid arrangement may be considered, with time split between the office and a home office. Travel of up to 15% and fieldwork of up to 30% are expected, varying with project needs, seasonally and over time. The work requires adaptability, organization, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively and independently. More experienced candidates may also take on leadership, mentoring, and client relationship responsibilities. Field assignments may involve rough construction-site terrain, industrial facilities with limited accessibility or moving machinery, waste disposal sites, and hazardous-material cleanup sites. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required, and applicants may be asked to participate in client-requested drug screening. Safety training will be provided. Candidates must be able to perform the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
