About The Position

The Generation Asset Manager will lead the strategy, reliability and lifecycle performance of generation assets powering remote communities across Western Australia. The role owns asset management for a diverse portfolio of 117 power stations, including diesel generation, solar PV, battery energy storage systems and associated balance-of-plant equipment. The focus is on keeping assets safe, reliable and performing effectively while shaping long-term maintenance, upgrade and replacement plans. Based in Bentley, the role works across technical, operational and commercial teams, with occasional travel to regional locations to stay connected to assets, contractors and communities. It requires practical judgement to balance safety, reliability, cost and operational realities in remote environments, while strengthening the organisation’s asset management approach for the future.

Requirements

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification, supported by significant relevant experience in generation assets.
  • Deep asset management experience, ideally across power stations, mining generation or a comparable operational asset environment.
  • Hands-on knowledge of diesel generation and renewable technologies, and ability to connect strategic asset planning to practical field outcomes.
  • Strong capability in reliability, fault and failure investigation, maintenance strategy, risk analysis and whole-of-life asset decision-making.
  • People-focused, solution-minded leadership style and confidence working with incomplete information, competing priorities and practical constraints of remote locations.
  • Commercial and contract management capability and strong stakeholder skills.
  • Current WA C or C-A class driver’s licence.
  • Flexibility to travel across regional WA as required.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continually improve the Generation Asset Management Plan, setting strategy for safe, reliable and cost-effective portfolio performance.
  • Lead lifecycle planning and the Asset Management Program, identifying maintenance, upgrade and replacement priorities and delivering approved works within budget.
  • Develop practical maintenance regimes, service requirements and reliability initiatives to extend asset life and reduce outages.
  • Provide asset-owner oversight and quality assurance for major maintenance, replacements, commissioning and handover, and monitor contractor performance.
  • Lead performance reporting, reliability studies, and incident or failure investigations in collaboration with engineering, Remote Operations and Regional Service Providers.
