About The Position

This is a contract, on-site position offering an excellent opportunity for an Associate-level physician to provide essential surgical care in a dynamic clinical environment. As a Locum General Surgeon, you will deliver comprehensive surgical services, including preoperative assessment, operative procedures, and postoperative management for a diverse patient population. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of patient safety, clinical outcomes, and continuity of care within the medical practice.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
  • Valid medical license to practice in the state of California
  • Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery
  • Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency program
  • Experience at the Associate level in a clinical or hospital setting
  • Strong clinical judgment and surgical technical proficiency
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care
  • Current ACLS and BLS certification
  • Willingness to work on-site in Pleasanton
  • Availability for a contract-based locum assignment
  • Must be board-eligible or board-certified

Responsibilities

  • Perform general surgical procedures, including abdominal, gastrointestinal, and soft tissue surgeries
  • Conduct preoperative evaluations and develop individualized surgical treatment plans
  • Provide postoperative care and monitor patient recovery and outcomes
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff to coordinate patient care
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation
  • Manage emergency surgical cases as required during scheduled coverage
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies
  • Counsel patients and families on surgical options, risks, and recovery expectations
  • Adhere to all clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical reviews
  • Ensure continuity of care during and after the locum assignment
  • Patient rounding
