About The Position

This is a contract, on-site position at the associate experience level, offering a unique opportunity to provide essential surgical care within a well-established general surgery practice. As a locum tenens physician, you will step into a collaborative clinical environment where your expertise directly supports patient outcomes and continuity of care. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive general surgery services, including preoperative evaluation, surgical intervention, and postoperative management across a diverse patient population. You will work alongside experienced surgeons, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to maintain the highest standards of surgical care. Requirements

  • MD (Medical Doctor) or DO (Osteopathic Doctor) degree from an accredited institution
  • Board eligible or board certified in General Surgery
  • Valid medical license to practice in the state of Colorado
  • Active DEA registration
  • Associate-level experience in general surgery practice
  • Strong clinical judgment and surgical technical proficiency
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and colleagues
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site clinical environment
  • Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records systems
  • ATLS and DEA required

Responsibilities

  • Perform general surgical procedures, including abdominal, gastrointestinal, and soft tissue surgeries
  • Conduct preoperative assessments and develop individualized surgical treatment plans
  • Provide postoperative care, including monitoring recovery and managing complications
  • Evaluate and diagnose patients presenting with surgical conditions
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records
  • Order and interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests
  • Provide emergency surgical consultations as required
  • Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and recovery expectations
  • Adhere to all clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in case reviews and quality improvement initiatives
