About The Position

The General Liability Claims Adjuster I adjusts non-attorney-represented general liability claims. The position analyzes, investigates, and retrieves claim-file information to determine Publix’s liability; communicates liability assessments to customers; and negotiates settlements. It preliminarily identifies subrogation opportunities and refers claims to potentially liable third parties when appropriate, or escalates subrogation issues to a Specialist II or Supervisor. The role also secures physical evidence related to customer events and claims. It does not handle Fleet, CQA (Corporate Quality Assurance), QRE (Quality Related Event), or Crime and Casualty claims. The position contacts injured customers by telephone and/or in writing to provide customer service and resolve claims promptly. It investigates reported customer events, manages shopping-cart damage and property-damage claims, secures physical evidence to support claims handling and potential future litigation, and complies with federally mandated Medicare reporting on settled claims.
