About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

Basic operations of janitorial work.
Basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
Basic safe work practices.
Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Sufficient communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling 5-35 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
Requires depth perception, hand-eye coordination in operation of equipment and tool use.
Sight required for cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities

High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height in a counter-clockwise direction.
Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and remove fingerprints and smudges from surfaces.
Bathroom Cleaning: Clean and sanitize sinks, toilet seats, toilet bowls, and refill soap and paper dispensers.
Empty Trash Cans: Remove liners, clean cans if necessary, and replace liners.
Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Dust mop or vacuum floors using appropriate techniques, ensuring all areas are covered.
Grounds care: Clean outside areas including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and parking lots, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, and high dusting.
Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways, clean glass, planters, and perform high dusting for dust and cobwebs.
Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables, spot clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, and clean dirty trays.
Floor Sanitizing: Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, working from the back of the room.
Your Inspection: Mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement for corrections.
Daily tasks: Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, wall spotting, and high dusting are done daily.
Customer Relations and Service: Be friendly and cheerful, answer questions courteously, report issues to the supervisor, work quietly, stay in the assigned area, maintain a clean appearance, and report incomplete work.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care, carpet cleaning, auto scrubbing, and buffing.
