About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

  • Basic operations of janitorial work.
  • Basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
  • Basic safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Sufficient communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
  • Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling 5-35 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
  • Requires depth perception, hand-eye coordination in operation of equipment and tool use.
  • Sight required for cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height in a counter-clockwise direction.
  • Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and remove fingerprints and smudges from surfaces.
  • Bathroom Cleaning: Clean and sanitize sinks, toilet seats, toilet bowls, and refill soap and paper dispensers.
  • Empty Trash Cans: Remove liners, clean cans if necessary, and replace liners.
  • Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Dust mop or vacuum floors using appropriate techniques, ensuring all areas are covered.
  • Grounds care: Clean outside areas including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and parking lots, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, and high dusting.
  • Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways, clean glass, planters, and perform high dusting for dust and cobwebs.
  • Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables, spot clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, and clean dirty trays.
  • Floor Sanitizing: Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, working from the back of the room.
  • Your Inspection: Mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement for corrections.
  • Daily tasks: Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, wall spotting, and high dusting are done daily.
  • Customer Relations and Service: Be friendly and cheerful, answer questions courteously, report issues to the supervisor, work quietly, stay in the assigned area, maintain a clean appearance, and report incomplete work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care, carpet cleaning, auto scrubbing, and buffing.
