About The Position

To perform a variety of cleaning activities in assigned buildings/facilities, keeping them in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition, and to perform other tasks related to the area of assignment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic operations of janitorial work.
  • Knowledge of basic methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work.
  • Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
  • Knowledge of the use of toxic and non-toxic chemicals (per MSDS sheets).
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to sufficiently communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to operate powered and non-powered janitorial equipment.
  • Ability to interpret written instructions and warning labels on cleaning chemicals.
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, including walking, standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, lifting/carrying 1-30 lbs, pushing/pulling 5-35 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, bending/twisting/balancing, kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching/handling/grasping/fingering, and overhead reaching.
  • Requires depth perception, hand and eye coordination in operation of equipment and tool use.
  • Requires sight for performing cleaning tasks and maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • High Dusting: Using a treated high duster, clean surfaces above shoulder height in a counter-clockwise direction.
  • Sanitizing / Spot Cleaning: Using a germicidal solution, sanitize surfaces below shoulder height and remove fingerprints/smudges from surfaces and spot clean windows.
  • Bathroom Cleaning: Using germicidal solution, clean and sanitize sinks, toilet seats, toilet bowls, and refill soap and paper dispensers.
  • Empty Trash Cans: Remove liners, wipe cans if liquid is present, and replace with a clean liner.
  • Floor Dusting or Vacuuming: Dust mop or vacuum floors using appropriate techniques, ensuring all areas are covered.
  • Grounds care: Clean and check outside areas including emptying ash urns and trash cans, policing sidewalks and parking lots for trash, spot cleaning spills, removing gum, wiping benches and vending machines, and high dusting public areas.
  • Public Common Areas: Dust mop and spot mop main hallways, clean glass, clean planters, and perform high dusting of window areas.
  • Food Court: Clean, remove trash, and sanitize tables, place chairs back under tables, spot clean spills, empty and clean trash cans, remove and clean dirty trays, and police outside eating areas.
  • Floor Sanitizing: Sanitize floors using the proper germicidal solution, starting from the back of the room and working towards the exit.
  • Your Inspection: Mentally review cleaning steps and visually check furniture placement for corrections.
  • Daily tasks: Hall, lobby, stairs, water fountains, furniture, wall spotting, and high dusting are done daily.
  • Customer Relations and Service: Be friendly and courteous to customers, answer questions, report broken items, work quietly, stay in the assigned work area, and maintain a clean appearance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor and/or Account Manager, which may include floor care, carpet extraction, and auto scrubbing.
