About The Position

A Freight Forwarder Ocean Import manages the importation and exportation of goods by ocean, overseeing logistics processes such as customs clearance, carrier booking, cargo tracking, documentation, delivery or pickup, and communication with customers and third-party service providers. The role coordinates with carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies to support the timely and efficient delivery of goods.

The position is based in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, within DSV’s Air & Sea division. It is a full-time role.

Requirements

• Fluency in English.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as calculating costs and rates.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of ocean freight logistics and customs regulations.
• Understanding of trade laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field.
• Experience in ocean import and export.
• Knowledge of additional languages.
• Experience with logistics software and systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage ocean imports, including customs clearance and delivery to final destinations.
• Manage ocean exports, including carrier booking and movement of goods through transportation channels.
• Coordinate with carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies to support timely delivery.
• Prepare, process, and submit required customs-clearance documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other relevant paperwork.
• Track and monitor shipments and provide customers with regular status updates.
• Manage customer relationships, address concerns or issues, and support customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with internal logistics, finance, and operations departments to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and laws, including customs regulations and trade laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
