About The Position
The Fountain Worker handles cash register transactions, greets guests cheerfully, and prepares food and beverages according to guest requests. The role provides fast, friendly, professional, and responsive customer service in a fast-paced setting, while ensuring accurate order entry, payment processing, and delivery of products. The worker maintains stock and display levels, keeps work and surrounding areas clean and organized, and assists coworkers, management, and new staff as needed. The position also involves attending assigned meetings and training, handling guest complaints, and preparing or serving menu items such as sandwiches and salads.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- At least 6 months of previous cash-handling experience.
- Effective professional communication in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Neat and professional appearance.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to interact with customers, the public, and coworkers.
- Ability to use a computer and/or cash register.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks under time constraints, manage heavy business volume, and address sensitive staff and guest situations in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Provide fast, friendly, professional, and responsive customer service to restaurant guests and staff.
- Engage guests in friendly conversation using the 10/5 Rule: make eye contact and smile at 10 feet, and greet and speak to guests at 5 feet.
- Enter orders accurately into the POS terminal.
- Post transactions accurately, provide correct change, account for cash, charge, and complimentary sales according to established procedures, and maintain financial controls.
- Prepare drinks to order according to established recipes and time guidelines.
- Deliver products to customers in a timely manner.
- Maintain high levels of customer service and thank guests for their patronage.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels in the work area and assist with display cases and pastry par levels.
- Keep the designated work area clean and organized, and help maintain surrounding and condiment areas according to health and safety standards.
- Assist coworkers as needed and help management get food products to customers.
- Assist with training new Fountain Counter Persons and management staff during their training period.
- Complete periodic cleaning tasks assigned by management.
- Attend mandatory meetings and training classes as assigned.
- Resolve guest complaints promptly and inform management of complaints.
- Prepare or serve menu items, including sandwiches or salads, and perform basic food preparation and service.
