About The Position

The Food Service Worker is an hourly, non-exempt, on-call position working up to 29 hours per week at Denison Job Corps in Denison, Iowa. Reporting to the Food Service Supervisor or designee, this role maintains good housekeeping in kitchen and dining areas and assists with food preparation and service. The position is classified as safety-sensitive and requires pre-employment drug/alcohol testing consistent with state law and organizational policy.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess or be able to obtain ServSafe food safety certification.
• Must pass a drug screen in compliance with the Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
• Pre-employment drug/alcohol testing is required for this safety-sensitive role.

Nice To Haves

• Three to six months of food preparation training and related food service work experience.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Maintain good housekeeping in kitchen and dining areas.
• Assist the cook with food preparation, estimating the number of students expected, and monitoring stockroom commodities.
• Serve food and prepare coffee, tea, other beverages, salads, and salad dressings as needed.
• Clean food service areas, tables, kitchen equipment and appliances, and maintain proper floor care.
• Operate dish-washing equipment to ensure dishes and utensils are cleaned and sanitized.
• Clean and check kitchen service equipment and keep the work area safe, clean, and sanitary.
• Replenish napkin dispensers, plate and silverware racks, salt and pepper shakers, condiments, and similar supplies.
