About The Position

Canteen is hiring a Food Service Worker/Cashier to perform cashiering duties and general food service work. The position maintains sanitation standards in food preparation, service, and dining areas. Cross-training to work at Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, and the cafe will be provided. The role is on call, with a schedule listed as Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; further details will be provided during the interview. The pay range is $15.00 to $16.00 per hour.

• Previous barista and food service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh and measure designated ingredients.
• Transport food pans, kettles, and trays between workstations, stoves, and refrigerators in accordance with safety standards.
• Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
• Store food in designated areas, following wrapping, dating, food safety, and rotation procedures.
• Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety requirements.
• Follow approved recipes and production standards to maintain food quality, serving temperatures, and portion control.
• Serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner, following service procedures.
• Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Relay relevant information to the supervisor.
• Perform sales transactions and accurately enter purchases into the cash register.
• Make change and accept declining balance cards and other approved forms of payment.
• Issue receipts and follow procedures for cash refunds.
• Manage assigned change funds and cash receipts, ensuring the cash drawer meets overage and shortage standards.
• Replenish condiments, beverages, and general supplies while keeping the service area clean.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
