FOOD SERVICE WORKER (PART TIME)
About The Position
The Food Service Worker prepares, presents, and serves food as needed at San Jose State University. This role performs food preparation and portioning, transports and stores food safely, cleans work areas and equipment, distributes supplies, follows recipes and production standards, serves customers, addresses customer concerns, and complies with service, inventory, cash-control, sanitation, and safety requirements. Other duties may be assigned. The position is part-time, and the schedule will be discussed during the interview. Work may be affected by periods of reduced food-service demand during school breaks; the company may require year-round work, potentially at another location, depending on business needs.

Responsibilities
- Prepare fruits and vegetables by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding them.
- Weigh and measure designated ingredients.
- Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from workstations, stoves, and refrigerators in accordance with safety standards.
- Store food in designated areas using proper wrapping, dating, food-safety, and rotation procedures.
- Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils.
- Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
- Use approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures, and portion control.
- Serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner, following outlined service steps.
- Resolve customer concerns and relay relevant information to a supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash-control procedures.
- Comply with sanitation and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
