FOOD SERVICE WORKER (FULL TIME)
About The Position
The Food Service Worker prepares, presents, and serves food as needed at Romulus Community Schools. The role includes food preparation, safe food handling and storage, cleaning, supply distribution, customer service, and compliance with food quality, sanitation, safety, inventory, and cash-control standards. Prior food service experience is required. The position is full time, with schedules listed as Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; more details are provided during the interview. Pay is $15.00 to $18.00 per hour. Because the work takes place in an educational facility, work may be reduced or paused during winter and summer breaks, in which case periods without work are unpaid temporary layoffs. Depending on business needs, year-round work may be required, potentially at another location during breaks.
Requirements
- Prior food service experience is required.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare food, including washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables.
- Weigh and measure designated ingredients.
- Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food between work stations, stoves, and refrigerators in accordance with safety standards.
- Store food in designated areas using wrapping, dating, food-safety, and rotation procedures.
- Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils.
- Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
- Follow approved food recipes and production standards to maintain quality, serving temperatures, and portion control.
- Serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner according to service steps.
- Resolve customer concerns and relay relevant information to the supervisor.
- Comply with company service standards and inventory and cash-control procedures.
- Comply with sanitation and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
