About The Position

The Fitness Ambassador is an entry-level trainer who creates a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging club environment. The role combines customer service with active interaction on the fitness floor to support members’ experience and well-being. Fitness Ambassadors connect with members, offer encouragement and guidance, help promote club programs, and contribute to a positive club culture.

The position includes facilitating PE@PF fitness programs and helping members use fitness programs in the Planet Fitness App. The Fitness Ambassador orients new members to basic workout routines and equipment, assists with safe equipment use, and supports member retention by building rapport. The role also involves member check-ins, club tours, information calls, account inquiries, membership updates, routine cleaning and sanitization, light equipment maintenance, and reporting issues.

This is a full-time position at the Brownsburg, Indiana location. The listed schedule is Monday 6:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., Tuesday 11:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m., Wednesday 12:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m., Thursday 11:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m., and Friday 6:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Pay starts at $12.50 per hour, with an increase upon certification and future tenure-based increases. The employer provides training; fitness certification is not required at hire but must be completed within 90 days.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently.
• Passion for fitness and helping others, and willingness to learn basic training techniques.
• Complete NCSF fitness training certification and manufacturer-specific equipment training within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to perform and demonstrate a wide range of strength, cardio, and flexibility exercises.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often 4–8 hours per shift, while engaging with members on the fitness floor.
• Ability to lift, move, and safely adjust fitness equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in customer service, hospitality, or fitness.
• A fitness certification; certification is encouraged but not required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate PE@PF fitness programs and assist members with fitness programs through the Planet Fitness App.
• Orient new members to basic workout routines and equipment use.
• Assist members with proper equipment use and safe exercise techniques.
• Engage with members on the fitness floor, offering encouragement and support.
• Build rapport with members and support retention by encouraging positive workout experiences.
• Greet members with enthusiasm, professionalism, and courtesy.
• Promote a welcoming and inclusive environment aligned with the club’s Judgement Free Zone philosophy.
• Promote club programs, personal training services, and special events.
• Assist with member check-ins, club tours, information calls, account inquiries, and membership updates.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, locker rooms, and high-touch areas.
• Conduct light maintenance checks, including changing pads, screws, nuts, and bolts and lubricating rods.
• Promptly report equipment or facility issues.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and visually appealing club environment.
