About The Position

The Fitness Ambassador is an entry-level trainer who creates a welcoming and inclusive environment for club members. The role combines customer service with active engagement on the fitness floor to improve the member experience. Fitness Ambassadors connect with members during workouts, provide encouragement and basic guidance, promote club programs, and help maintain a clean, safe, and motivating workout space. No prior fitness background is required, but the employee must complete NCSF fitness training certification and manufacturer-specific equipment training within 90 days of hire.

The position is based at the Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania club. It is full-time, with a starting wage of $12.50 per hour and a raise upon certification, as well as future tenure-based increases. The job shift is listed as “Any.”

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently.
• Passion for fitness and helping others, with willingness to learn basic training techniques.
• Must complete NCSF fitness training certification and manufacturer-specific equipment training within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to perform and demonstrate a wide range of strength, cardio, and flexibility exercises.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often 4–8 hours per shift, while engaging with members on the fitness floor.
• Ability to lift, move, and safely adjust fitness equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Prior customer service, hospitality, or fitness experience is preferred.
• A fitness certification is encouraged but is not required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet members enthusiastically and professionally, and help create a welcoming, inclusive environment.
• Maintain a visible, approachable presence on the fitness floor and engage with members during workouts.
• Facilitate PE@PF fitness programs and assist members with fitness programs through the Planet Fitness App.
• Provide new members with orientation and guidance on basic workout routines and equipment use.
• Assist members with proper equipment use and safe exercise techniques.
• Encourage members and build rapport to support positive workout experiences and member retention.
• Promote club programs, personal training services, special events, and other club offerings.
• Assist with member check-ins, questions, club tours, information calls, account inquiries, and membership updates.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, locker rooms, and high-touch areas.
• Perform light maintenance checks, including changing pads, checking screws, nuts, and bolts, and lubricating rods; report issues promptly.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and visually appealing club environment.
