About The Position

Planet Fitness is hiring an entry-level Fitness Ambassador to create a welcoming, energetic member experience and help keep the club clean, safe, and motivating. The role involves being a visible, approachable presence throughout the club, building relationships with members, supporting their fitness experiences, and promoting club programs and services. No prior fitness experience is required; training is provided. The position has two certification levels: Level 1 is an uncertified ambassador actively working toward certification, and Level 2 is a certified ambassador with an NCSF or other nationally accredited certification.

The schedule listed is part-time: Monday 6 a.m.–1 p.m., Tuesday 11 a.m.–7 p.m., and Wednesday 12 p.m.–8 p.m. Starting pay is $12.50 per hour, with a raise upon certification and future tenure-based increases. The position is located at the Fort Mill, South Carolina club.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently.
• Passion for fitness and helping others, and willingness to learn basic training techniques.
• Must complete NCSF fitness training certification and manufacturer-specific equipment training within 90 days of hire.
• Must be able to perform and demonstrate a wide range of strength, cardio, and flexibility exercises.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often 4–8 hours per shift, while engaging with members on the fitness floor.
• Ability to lift, move, and safely adjust fitness equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in customer service, hospitality, or fitness is preferred.
• Fitness certification is encouraged; Level 2 requires NCSF or another nationally accredited certification.

Responsibilities

• Greet members enthusiastically and professionally, and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment aligned with the club’s Judgement Free Zone philosophy.
• Maintain a visible and approachable presence on the fitness floor; engage with members, encourage them, build rapport, and support member retention.
• Facilitate PE@PF fitness programs and assist members with fitness programs through the Planet Fitness App.
• Orient new members to basic workout routines and equipment use, and assist members with safe equipment use and techniques.
• Promote club programs, personal training services, events, and other club offerings.
• Assist with member check-ins, club tours, information calls, account inquiries, and membership updates.
• Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of equipment, locker rooms, and high-touch areas.
• Conduct light maintenance checks, such as changing pads, checking screws, nuts, and bolts, and lubricating rods; promptly report issues.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and visually appealing club environment.
