About The Position

Brownells is seeking a friendly, dependable part-time Firearms Retail Sales Associate for its retail team in Grinnell, Iowa. The role combines firearms knowledge and customer service to help customers make informed decisions about firearms, optics, accessories, supplies, and outdoor products. Relevant firearms experience may come from retail, gunsmithing, shooting sports, hunting, military service, or personal use.

The position is scheduled for approximately 24–28 hours per week, with rotating weekday and weekend shifts between 9 AM and 6 PM. The listed pay is $16–$18 per hour, based on experience.

Requirements

• Hands-on firearms experience through retail, gunsmithing, shooting sports, hunting, military service, or personal use.
• Previous experience in retail sales, customer service, or another customer-facing role.
• Confidence discussing firearms, accessories, and related products with customers.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a friendly, dependable attitude.
• Willingness to learn new products, systems, and procedures.
• Availability to work approximately 24–28 hours per week, including rotating weekdays and weekends.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with firearms, accessories, optics, and outdoor products by providing knowledgeable and friendly service.
• Answer product questions and help customers make informed purchasing decisions.
• Process sales, returns, and exchanges accurately using the point-of-sale system.
• Assist with firearm transactions and required documentation in accordance with applicable laws and company procedures.
• Stock merchandise, maintain displays, and keep the store clean, organized, and ready for customers.
• Support firearm appraisals, trade-ins, and other daily retail operations.
