About The Position

Houston Fire & Security is hiring a reliable, experienced Fire Protection Sales/Estimator to support fire alarm and low-voltage estimating. The company provides design, installation, repair, inspection, and maintenance for commercial fire protection systems. The role includes preparing estimates and proposals, reviewing project documents and drawings, researching codes, and estimating small to medium-sized projects independently. The position is based in Humble, Texas, and is full-time. Candidates should have at least five years of experience in fire alarm system design or estimating, be familiar with NFPA and NEC codes, and be proficient with Microsoft Office and estimating software. The job also requires the ability to walk construction and heavy industrial sites, including climbing stairs and ladders. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license.
At least five years of experience in design or estimating in the fire alarm industry.
Familiarity with and ability to read, interpret, and apply NFPA and NEC codes.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and estimating software.
Ability to create basic fire alarm layouts and perform material takeoffs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Self-starter with the ability to use independent judgment.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to deliver high-quality results by deadlines.
Ability to work effectively both within a team and independently.
Ability to walk construction and heavy industrial sites, including climbing stairs and ladders.

Nice To Haves

Experience estimating kitchen suppression systems and other fire protection systems.

Responsibilities

Estimate and prepare proposals for fire alarm and low-voltage systems.
Lay out bids, complete material takeoffs, and obtain vendor pricing.
Perform basic calculations and code research.
Review RFPs, specifications, basic designs, and drawings to determine the scope of work and contents needed for estimates.
Prepare fire alarm system takeoffs.
Solicit subcontractor bids and vendor quotes.
Assemble estimating spreadsheets.
Support other department personnel as required.
Estimate small to medium-sized projects independently.
Read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings.
