Field Service Technician | CDL Required

Airgas•Des Moines, IA
•Onsite

About The Position

Airgas is seeking a safety-minded Field Service Technician to install, maintain, repair, and remove bulk storage tanks and beverage carbonation systems at commercial customer sites. The role may be based near Des Moines, Iowa, or Ramsey, Minnesota, and serves customers within a 300-mile radius of either location. This is not a delivery-route driving job: technicians use commercial service vehicles, such as F-550s or box trucks, primarily to travel between customer jobs. Technicians perform hands-on mechanical work, including running lines, installing centralized Microbulk cryogenic tanks, setting up gas monitors, and mounting control boxes at locations such as restaurants, bars, and stadiums. They also respond to service calls, troubleshoot gas line and tank issues, inspect systems, and replace faulty equipment. Airgas provides the necessary tools, drills, and lines. The position requires physical work, including using ladders, routing tubing through ceiling tiles, drilling into structures, and maneuvering large stainless steel tanks with specialized hand trucks. Technicians work independently, adapt to changing daily schedules, and travel as needed. Occasional overnight stays are scheduled with one to two weeks' notice; Airgas covers hotel, flight, and rental car costs. Compensation is $28.00 per hour, with overtime availability. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a 7:00 a.m. start time. Benefits begin after 30 days of employment and include insurance coverage, paid leave, retirement savings with company match, and education assistance.

  • Have no driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven years.
  • Be able to work in a drug-free environment.
  • Have one year of CDL driving experience within the last five years, or a trucking school Certificate of Completion completed within the last 12 months.
  • Be self-motivated, trainable, and adaptable to changing daily schedules.
  • Be willing to travel, including occasional overnight stays.
