About The Position

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Road Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnose equipment problems, and make advanced repairs at customer locations. The work is performed safely and effectively to minimize equipment downtime. The fleet varies by location and primarily includes aerial work platforms, general construction tools, and equipment. Specialty locations may also have large-scale power generators, pumps, HVAC systems, and oil and gas equipment.

This role offers work on a variety of equipment in remote locations, opportunities to develop skills for a career in service or operations management, and work with a team in a safety-focused environment. The position may require providing personal mechanic’s tools. Physical demands include bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors or outdoors as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and troubleshooting fundamentals.
• Knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting fundamentals.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• May need to provide mechanic’s tools of the trade.
• Must be able to bend, squat, crouch, reach, lift 50 pounds or more, and work indoors or outdoors as required.

Nice To Haves

• Some trade school or equivalent training desired.
• 1–2 years of mechanic experience with diesel equipment, heavy construction equipment, or specialty-lines equipment such as large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC, or oil and gas equipment is strongly preferred.
• Bilingual ability (Spanish or another language) may be required based on location needs.
• A CDL may be required in some locations.
• Transferable military occupational skills may be applicable.
