About The Position

KASCO is an established provider of products, repairs, and service to the meat processing and retail institutional food industries. The Field Service Representative performs field repairs and preventive maintenance on food-processing equipment, delivers products and supplies to customer locations, and works to meet customer needs while representing KASCO professionally. The role also includes selling services and products, developing new business, providing technical support, managing a route territory and inventory, processing orders and invoices, and maintaining a company vehicle and safe work practices. The position involves travel between customer locations and a warehouse, work around moving mechanical equipment, occasional electrical-shock risk, and exposure to varying temperatures, including refrigerated meat rooms and outdoor conditions.

Requirements

Accredited high school diploma, business or trade school education, or GED.
Excellent mechanical, electrical, or electronic aptitude and related technician repair skills.
Ability to sell and build customer relationships, with strong interpersonal and rapport-building skills.
Self-directed, goal-oriented approach and ability to work with little direct supervision.
Professional appearance and demeanor, attention to detail, good listening skills, follow-through, integrity, financial responsibility, and ability to follow directions.
Valid, clear driver's license in the state of residence and ability to drive a KASCO van or truck between customer stops and the warehouse.
Mechanical aptitude, proficiency with tools, and demonstrated ability to repair equipment.
Basic electrical knowledge and ability to read and interpret machine schematic drawings.
Ability to order and deliver repair items and manage van inventory maintenance and replenishment.
Ability to use an electronic tablet, laptop computer, and smartphone, and to learn new technology and repair and service procedures.
Ability to prepare invoices and check calculations.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and speak effectively with customers.
Ability to solve problems, gather data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
Ability to lift or move up to 100 pounds from floor to waist and 50 pounds from waist to chest unassisted.
Ability to perform the physical activities described, including regular hand use and reaching, and occasional standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on food-processing equipment such as band saws, juicers, meat grinders, slicers, and tenderizers.
Conduct safety audits on customer equipment.
Promote and sell KASCO services, products, repair services, and special programs to customers.
Prospect independent specialty stores, small packers, and small chains in the assigned territory for new business.
Provide technical support to customers on proper equipment use.
Manage inventory at customer locations, in the field warehouse, and in the service vehicle; forecast needs and place timely reorders and parts orders.
Manage the assigned route according to the established schedule, including required stops and time at each stop.
Respond to special and emergency service calls in a timely manner.
Process orders and invoices using a laptop, tablet, or Palm device; collect and remit payments for accounts below minimum billing levels.
Maintain a safe work environment, follow company and applicable safety rules, drive safely, and maintain the service vehicle according to company policy.
Maintain a professional external image, including wearing clean uniforms and proper steel-toed shoes, keeping the van clean and organized, and communicating professionally.
