About The Position

We’re looking for Field Service Engineers I who are excited to launch their careers while supporting critical energy infrastructure projects across the U.S. This is an entry-level, field-based role with hands-on exposure to high-voltage electrical systems at power plants, hydroelectric dams, and industrial facilities. You’ll assist senior technicians with testing and maintenance of transformers, switchgear, breakers, and more — gaining valuable field experience, mentorship, and advancement opportunities.

Requirements

  • 0–1 years of experience in electrical maintenance, utility, industrial, or military settings
  • Familiarity with low/medium voltage electrical equipment
  • Basic understanding of three-phase systems, grounding, arc flash, and electrical safety
  • Ability to read simple one-line diagrams and schematics
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on approach
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safety and learning new technologies
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% across the continental U.S.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology, Power Systems Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather, at heights, in confined spaces, and around high-voltage equipment and heavy machinery
  • Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and enduring extended physical activity
  • Requires good vision, hearing, and English proficiency for safe, effective communication in noisy environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using PowerDB or similar testing software
  • TWIC card
  • NETA Level II certification (in-progress, also accepted)
  • NETA Level II certification or equivalent licensing in progress
  • Experience with PowerDB software or similar test documentation platforms
  • Prior work in power generation, substations, or electrical field service

Responsibilities

  • Assist with inspecting, testing, and maintaining low- to high-voltage systems (480V–600kV), including switchgear, breakers, transformers, relays, motor controllers, and cables
  • Support transformer testing (TTR, winding resistance, insulation resistance, power factor) using Doble/Megger equipment
  • Perform cable tests, including VLF, Tan Delta, and DC Hi-Pot
  • Shadow relay testing for electromechanical and solid-state relays
  • Participate in functional testing of protection and control systems
  • Learn to use meters to measure voltage, current, and resistance
  • Follow standard procedures and complete service logs, and checklists
  • Assist with job setup, equipment staging, and safe grounding practices
  • Read and interpret diagrams and manuals with guidance from senior staff
  • Maintain tools and equipment, and follow all safety protocols
  • Travel to customer sites across the country and work overtime or weekends as needed
  • Follow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areas
